Just a quick post to say keep your eyes peeled in the website in the coming days.
After registration closes tonight the competitor list will go up followed by the timings and hopefully full detailed fight brackets also. This will be completed by close of play Friday at the very latest, though we expect Thursday night.
So far there are over 80 registered competitors.
Registration check-in at the venue will open from 9am on Sunday morning with the first fights hitting the mat at between 10:00-10:30am. Wiegh-ins will take place on a staggered basis, in the 30 minute period prior to the start of the division.
We will be running 3 competition areas and have 2 sizeable warm-up areas located adjacent the competition floor plus ample spectator space.
So remember: eyes on the website for full timings and competitor lists and we’ll see you on the mat!

Jason Scully over at Grapplearts.com wrote this article awhile ago about why he thinks competitions (whether you win or lose) are always a good idea and a few tips to get you through them.
Well worth a read, check it out here: http://www.grapplearts.com/bjj-grappling-competition-tips.html
Check out the design for our hoodies and t-shirts (skillfully modelled by Lee Doski & Windy Miller).
Not the colours we’re having but shows them off well. Top quality hoodies and t-shirts printed both sides.
They’ll be on sale at the event or get a t-shirt free as part of your prize package for winnning your division!

This is another old blog post (2007 – blog now discontinued) but it’s one of the first I ever read when I started BJJ and having now gone back and re-read it (after listening to the spoken version on the FJKD3 DVD set) it now makes more sense than ever.
It’s by black belt Matt Thornton, the head of SBGi (Straight Blast Gym International) and whilst it’s rather long, it’s very much worth your time.
It covers way too much for me to paraphrase any of it here so just click the link under this sentance and enjoy cleansing your mind.

Georgette has posted up some videos on her blog courtesy of ‘MG in Action’.
Marcelo Garcia & Ryan Hall rolling at Garcias academy. Playing around in the first two vids then Marcelo showing who’s boss in the third.
I’ve met both of these guys and seen them grapple live and it’s just awesome to watch.

So this is a very old blog post (Oct 2006! – and rather a long one) but it’s well worth a read.
It comes from Black Belt Roy Harris who’s blog was hosted by grappling apparell company: ‘On The Mat’.
There’s no particular excerpt i could put here to sum it up so you’ll have to read the full article, trust me, it won’t be a waste of 5 minutes.
